Dublin man jailed for 11 years for possession of weapons "arsenal"
Summary
Stephen Hendrick, 49, of Ballymun, was sentenced by the Special Criminal Court to eleven years' imprisonment for possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives. In July 2013 he pleaded guilty to holding 59 rounds of ammunition at Furry Park. In November 2014 he pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a 7.62 mm Kalashnikov rifle, components for Glock pistols, 125 rounds of rifle ammunition, five shotgun cartridges and a flexible PETN explosive tube, all found at his Ballymun home. The court noted that these offences were committed while he was on bail for the earlier charge. The judge, Mr Justice Paul Butler, described the items as an "arsenal" and imposed a sentence of eight years for each of the three counts, with each term running concurrently and consecutive to the first prison term. The total sentence was eleven years' imprisonment.
