Explosives accused's fingerprints found in hotel room, trial hears
Summary
During a Special Criminal Court hearing, fingerprints lifted from a Lucan hotel room were found to match those of Samuel Devlin, a 55‑year‑old Northern Irish man accused of unlawful possession of an explosive substance (PETN). The court had previously reported that a detonator cord containing PETN was discovered in the same hotel room. Devlin, who had booked the chalet at Finnstown House Hotel under a false name, pleaded not guilty to the charge on 11 May 2014. Detective Garda Niall Lannon examined fingerprints on a Dell laptop seized during the search of the chalet and confirmed a match with Devlin's prints. Detective Garda Ernie Fraser lifted fingerprints from a door in the chalet, also matching Devlin's left little finger. The trial continues.
