A Dublin man has been jailed for one year for threatening to kill his former partner after the 'red mist descended' when he was made aware of a serious sexual allegation against him. The 26-year-old man pleaded guilty to sending a message of a menacing character by telephone in November 2022. Evidence was heard that the man was arrested in early November 2022 on foot of outstanding warrants and at this point, he became aware of the allegation. He was brought to the Criminal Courts of Justice and received bail. Several hours after he became aware of the allegation, he made the call threatening his former partner. The woman told gardai that he said he was going to kill her and her junkie boyfriend and slice her face. He used his brother's girlfriend's phone and made the call as he was leaving the courts building. Gardai seized the phone and established that the call lasted one minute and six seconds. The woman told the court she is constantly afraid and suffers with anxiety.
