Man admits to role in fraud on Trinity hardship fund

Summary

Luke Taaffe, aged 34, pleaded guilty before the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to converting, transferring, handling, acquiring, possessing or using €1,500 of the proceeds of criminal conduct from Trinity College Dublin's Student Hardship Fund, knowing the money was illicit on 8 October 2020. He will be sentenced on 17 December. Helen Richardson, aged 46, was arraigned for a separate case involving the alleged defrauding of just under €500,000 from the same fund between 2021 and 2022, with her arraignment set for 28 January 2026.
