Septuagenarian to go on trial next year charged with 79 sexual offences
Summary
A man in his 70s, arrested in July, faces 79 alleged historical sexual offences, including 78 indecent assaults on four girls aged eight to 15 between 1971 and 1981 in south Dublin, and one attempted rape. The charges are distributed among the victims: 42 counts against one girl, 34 against another, two against a third, and one against a fourth. He did not attend the short hearing. Defence counsel Karl Monahan BL requested a trial date. Judge Paul McDermott set the trial for 15 June 2026, with disclosure to be completed before the case is heard in January.
