Husband punched wife and assaulted garda
Summary
In a Tallaght District Court hearing on 19 September 2025, a man in his 40s was found to have punched his wife and assaulted Garda James Hughes on 14 January 2024 at his home. After a bereavement and heavy drinking, the defendant returned intoxicated, became highly argumentative, and threw an extension cable at his partner, striking her on the eyebrow before punching her three or four times.
