Summary

Michael Cash, 33, of Ashlawn Park, Ballybrack, was found by Gardaí on a Luas track in Cherrywood carrying two golden hatchets and a large kitchen knife while riding an e‑scooter. He was wearing a balaclava and attempted to flee when officers arrived. Cash dropped one hatchet, which Gardaí recovered, and the other hatchet and knife were found concealed on his person. He pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of the hatchets. Cash has 116 prior convictions, including false imprisonment, assault, criminal damage and road traffic offences, and a history of alcohol and drug problems. The court noted his guilty pleas, cooperation with Gardaí, and his willingness to enter a custodial sentence. Judge Sinead Ni Chulachain imposed a three‑year sentence, with the final 12 months suspended for two years, and directed Cash to be placed under probation supervision for two years and to engage in a drug treatment programme.
