Summary

The salesman, who joined the firm in April 2023 on a €75,000 base salary and up to €55,000 commission, resigned in August 2024. He claimed that his wages were repeatedly unpaid or partially paid from November 2023 through June 2024, and that he was promised payment that never materialised. The company had paid two months' wages after a loan in August 2024 but failed to settle the remaining balance. The WRC found the company had made an illegal deduction and directed it to pay the full amount under the Payment of Wages Act 1991.
