Summary

Richard Mansfield, 21, was remanded in custody after being arrested by Gardaí at a routine checkpoint in Tallaght, Dublin, on Tuesday. Mansfield had previously appeared on RTE's Crimecall as a wanted man and had failed to attend his arraignment at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in July, prompting Judge Martin Nolan to issue an arrest warrant. He faces charges from the District Court for taking a vehicle and endangerment in Foxrock on 7 January 2015. Mansfield had been on High Court bail, living at his mother's address in Kiltalown Way, but Gardaí had difficulty locating him, partly because he had travelled to the UK. Garda Stephen Murray reported that Mansfield's family and friends were aware of his wanted status but did not assist in his capture. He has a history of 11 prior failures to appear at court. Judge Melanie Greally refused bail and remanded him until Monday, when he is expected to enter a plea to the charges.
