Richard Satchwell to go on trial tomorrow accused of murdering wife
Summary
Richard Satchwell, aged 58, will be tried for the murder of his wife Tina Satchwell, aged 45, who died at their Cork home between 19 and 20 March 2017. He was arraigned at the Central Criminal Court on 28 April 2025 and pleaded not guilty. The trial will commence on 2 May 2025 before Mr Justice Paul McDermott, with a jury of five men and seven women sworn in by Mr Justice Kerida Naidoo. The case is expected to last six weeks, concluding by 5 June. Senior counsel Gerardine Small will lead the prosecution, while Brendan Grehan SC heads the defence. Mr Justice Naidoo noted that some media coverage had occurred but urged potential jurors to disclose any difficulty in remaining impartial.
