Staff at fintech went unpaid for six months, WRC told
Summary
Daire Hardesty, a software developer at Digisure, claimed he and colleagues were unpaid for six months after the company's CFO was forced out, allegedly locking the bank accounts. Staff were told a $30 million balance was frozen and later that anti‑money‑laundering checks delayed payroll. Interim cash of €300‑€1,000 was provided, but salaries never arrived. Hardesty sold a €1,600 camera lens for €1,080 to pay rent, and the firm promised reimbursement but failed to pay. He was placed on temporary layoff on 20 November 2024 and told to "stop being disrespectful." The Workplace Relations Commission found he was not paid from May 2024 until his termination in December 2024. The adjudicator directed Digisure to pay Hardesty €46,664 in gross wages without delay, citing the company's repeated assurances and lack of evidence. The ruling was issued under the Payment of Wages Act 1991.
