Summary

A 52‑year‑old Kuwaiti man, Faleh Al Anisi, was sentenced to two and a half years' imprisonment, backdated to the day he entered custody on 24 May 2024, for assisting the entry of six non‑nationals into Ireland. He had travelled from Lisbon to Dublin, claiming the trip was a holiday but the court found the explanation implausible. At Dublin Airport he handed over his British passport, revealing his Kuwaiti origin, and later returned to customs to explain that he had flown from London to Lisbon the day before and then to Dublin. He admitted carrying a brown paper bag containing genuine passports of the six individuals, who had no documents and had arrived on the same flight from Lisbon. Al Anisi pleaded guilty to three counts of assisting the entry of a person in breach of Section 5 of the Immigration Act 2004.
