Dublin man remanded in custody over serious assault which left victim legally blind in one eye
Summary
Sean Kenny, 24, was remanded in custody pending sentence after pleading guilty to intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Raphael Momoh, 21, on Parkgate Street on 29 January 2013. Kenny struck Momoh in the eye with a broken glass bottle, cutting the cornea and leaving scarring on the eyelids, which will require a corneal transplant. Momoh was hit on the back of the head while walking toward Heuston Station, then punched in the face, stomach and chest before a passer‑by pulled Kenny off him. Gardaí used CCTV, witness statements and identification to name Kenny as the suspect. Kenny has 49 prior convictions and is currently serving a sentence for drug dealing and violent disorder. The case was adjourned to 15 January 2016.
