Summary

The jury in the trial of 42‑year‑old Deirdre Arnold, accused of being the getaway driver for the murderer of Lisa Thompson, has begun viewing CCTV footage of her movements in the days before Thompson's death. Arnold is charged with driving Brian McHugh to Thompson's home, waiting outside for over an hour, then driving him away and later checking him into a hotel to help him evade prosecution. The prosecution also alleges she used her vehicle to dispose of evidence from the scene. Garda Michelle Purcell presented a montage of footage from May 8, showing a silver Hyundai Tucson driven by Arnold from her Briarfield Grove address, including interactions with McHugh over the next hour and 57 minutes. The trial continues before Mr Justice Patrick McGrath and a jury of seven men and five women. The prosecution's case is based on the evidence presented by counsel for the Director of Public Prosecutions, Fiona Murphy SC.
