Serial burglar with 113 previous convictions stole over €22k in jewellery

Summary

Clive Dixon, 53, of North Frederick Street, Dublin, pleaded guilty to burglary on 14 January 2019 at a house in the Harold's Cross area. He had 113 previous convictions, 78 of which were for burglary, and was already serving a nine‑year sentence with the final four years suspended, with an earliest release date of 2027. Gardaí observed a damaged glass pane on the front door and noted that several rooms had been entered, the back sliding doors were ajar, and a rock had been left on a bed upstairs. Diamond earrings, an antique engagement ring, two watches including a Patek Philippe, and a gold chain, totalling €22,500, were taken and have not been recovered. The homeowner reported €500 worth of damage to the door. A plastic shopping bag containing a chisel, an empty water bottle and a toy car was found in the house; Dixon's DNA was identified from the bag in September 2019.
