Drug dealer caught moving €20k in cannabis one month after getting bail
Summary
Derek Fee, a 37‑year‑old Dubliner, was jailed for six and a half years after a series of drug‑related offences while on bail. In June 2022, Gardaí stopped him in Tallaght and seized three deals of cocaine, 300 diazepam tablets, a weighing scale and a burner phone. A warrant led to a search of his home, where no drugs were found, but a false compartment in a car he had owned for four weeks yielded €14,000 worth of cannabis. The following month, while driving a rental van, Gardaí discovered a kilo of cannabis under the passenger seat, valued at €20,000. Fee pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for sale or supply on both occasions. The court, noting his prior convictions and the mitigating evidence presented, imposed two and a half years for the first offence and four years for the second, to run consecutively.
