Shanahan's chef claims he did not get notice pay

Summary

Sous chef Piotr Fraszczyk, who had worked at Shanahan's on the Green in Dublin since November 2010, told the Workplace Relations Commission that he had not received payment for his notice period, outstanding holiday entitlements or his final week of work. He said the restaurant had closed in October 2024 and that he had been placed on layoff before applying for statutory redundancy. Fraszczyk claimed the redundancy process was initiated by an accountant who acted on behalf of all employees, and that the company had sent a letter on 13 October stating the restaurant had "ceased trading temporarily." He also said he had only taken ten days of holiday in the 2024 leave year and that his last week's wages, about €750, were unpaid.
