In a 2025 WRC hearing, Focus Ireland was examined over a 2019 photoshoot that used a prop wedding ring to depict married homeless parents, following an ad‑agency report suggesting the public was "less likely to support single parents." Former digital media manager Aoife Cooney, a single mother, claimed she was bullied by CEO Pat Dennigan and advocacy director Mike Allen because of her status and resigned in 2022. The tribunal found the photoshoot was beyond her jurisdiction and that the agency's findings did not reflect Focus Ireland's culture. Cooney's grievance was deemed a bullying complaint rather than discrimination; the WRC concluded no bullying occurred and that her resignation was due to a better job offer. The case was dismissed as a mischaracterisation of discrimination.
