In the Central Criminal Court, a woman named Natasha Carey, who was eight months pregnant at the time, testified that she witnessed a 21‑year‑old Michael Kinsella with a weapon during a gathering at Martina Deegan's house in Tyrrelstown on the night of January 6, 2011. Carey described the evening as a party where the group drank and displayed photographs of Mr. Adil Essalhi's children. She claimed that Michael, along with Wayne Kinsella and Mr. Essalhi, left the apartment, and that she saw blood on Michael's weapon and on his own neck. Carey also admitted to lying in the Wayne Kinsella trial and to the Gardaí, stating she had altered her story because of personal trauma.
