Bail refused for man charged with directing IRA activities

Summary

In a Special Criminal Court hearing on 2 December 2015, Séamus McGrane, 60, of Little Road, Domiskin, Co. Louth, was denied bail. McGrane faces charges of directing the activities of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and of membership in the IRA, both offences committed between 23 December 2009 and 13 May 2015. The court, presided over by Mr Justice Paul Butler with Judges John O'Hagan and Anne Ryan, rejected both his application and that of his solicitor, Tony McGillicuddy BL, for temporary bail.
