Law professor said he'd shot trespasser before pulling revolver from pocket, trial hears

Summary

Law professor Diarmuid Phelan, 56, denies murdering Keith Conlon, 36, at Hazelgrove Farm, Tallaght, on 24 February 2022. In court, Phelan told Garda Kevin Curran that he had shot a man before pulling a Smith & Wesson revolver from his jacket pocket. Curran described how Phelan, driving a red Hilux jeep, claimed a male had been shot and that he needed help. Phelan admitted to shooting Conlon, who lay on his back with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. Phelan then surrendered the revolver, which had eight rounds, three of which had been fired.
