Dublin man acquitted of murdering neighbour but found guilty of impeding apprehension of killer

Summary

Anthony Locke, 38, of Ballyfermot, Dublin, was found not guilty of the murder of his neighbour, Christopher Jackson, 53, by a Central Criminal Court jury. However, the jury returned a majority verdict of 10 to two finding him guilty of impeding the apprehension of a person he knew or believed to be guilty of murder. Prosecutors alleged Anthony Locke participated in the attack and concealed the body, while defense counsel argued the primary witness, Barbara Staunton, was inconsistent and unreliable. The court heard evidence that Jackson died from multiple stab wounds. Following the verdict, Mr Justice McCarthy remanded Anthony Locke in custody until January 18th for sentencing.
