Murder accused told gardai his back "nearly snapped" moving deceased's body

Summary

Anthony Locke, 38, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Christopher Jackson, 53, at Jackson's Prussia Street apartment between 6 and 7 September 2012. Locke presented himself at a garda station on 9 September 2012, was arrested and interviewed. He told the Garda that his brother, Bernard, had stabbed Jackson and then forced Locke to clean up the scene. Locke described moving the body as weighing a "tonne" and said he "nearly snapped my back". He claimed he used two duvets and four or five plastic bags to wrap the body, that blood covered the kitchen, and that his brother threatened to cut off his fingers. Locke denied using a weapon or having an active part in the killing, but recounted that Jackson's last words were "Babs help". The trial continues with Locke's garda interviews before Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy and a jury of twelve.
