Wayne Dundon seeks to have Roy Collins murder trial adjourned
Summary
Lawyers for Wayne Dundon, aged 35, have requested the Special Criminal Court to adjourn his upcoming trial for the murder of local businessman Roy Collins, also aged 35, which occurred on 9 April 2009 at Coin Castle Amusements, Roxboro Road Shopping Centre, Limerick. Dundon and Nathan Killeen, aged 23, are charged with Collins' murder and are scheduled to stand trial on 29 April. Counsel Remy Farrell SC applied for the adjournment, arguing that the trial could not realistically conclude within the four‑to‑five‑week period set aside and citing issues with the disclosure of evidence. He also indicated that the defence intends to seek judicial review in the High Court regarding this and other evidence. Counsel for Killeen, Keith Spencer BL, wished to make a similar application.
