Jail for man who harrassed and threatened two former partners over cash demands
Summary
Ian Waters, 35, of Springfield Heights, Newtownmountkennedy, was sentenced to six years' imprisonment with two years suspended for harassing and threatening two former partners, Orla Sheridan and Amy Tresson, over money. He pleaded guilty to harassing Sheridan with mobile calls and texts from 19 August to 10 December 2013, and to making menacing demands of Tresson between May and July 2014. Waters claimed he was under debt pressure and sought cash from Sheridan, who lent him over €10,000, and from Tresson, who gave him €1,000 after he threatened to drag her from work and kick her in the head. He threatened to shoot or kill both women and their families. Judge Patricia Ryan imposed consecutive sentences totalling six years, suspended two years, and ordered Waters to stay away from Sheridan and her family for twenty years. No prior convictions were recorded.
