Summary
Hubert Duffy, 46, of George's Place, Temple Street, Dublin 1, and Robert Day, 43, of St Attracta Road, Cabra, Dublin 7, were arrested by the Special Detective Unit and Garda Crime and Security Branch as part of an investigation into dissident republican groups. Both men were charged on 2 February 2014 with membership of an unlawful organisation within the State, namely the Irish Republican Army (IRA). Duffy had previously been charged with the same offence on 29 March 2013, was granted bail in April 2013, and was due to stand trial in January 2015. The arrests were made at 1:42 pm on Chancery Street and 1:44 pm on the North Circular Road, with both men wearing grey hoodies. They were remanded in custody, with liberty to apply for bail to appear before the Special Criminal Court on 12 February 2014. The court was presided over by Justice Paul Butler, with Judges John O'Hagan and Flannan Brennan.
