Partner of deceased man denies "making up" evidence as she goes along

Summary

During the trial of Anthony Locke, 38, accused of murdering Christopher Jackson in 2012, witness Barbara Staunton denied fabricating her testimony. She confirmed she had not told Gardaí about seeing Locke with a penis in his hand, but admitted she had claimed to see him with a pen knife and later with up to three steak knives, though the court exhibited different knives. Staunton acknowledged giving inconsistent accounts of the night but said she did not do so to protect herself. She was suspected of concealing the body but never charged. Staunton also stated she could not recall hearing Bernard Locke threaten to stab the accused. The case remains before Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy and a jury of twelve. Anthony Locke pleaded not guilty.
