Murder trial hears deceased had more than 70 stab wounds

Summary

During a murder trial in Dublin, the prosecution presented evidence that Christopher Jackson, aged 53, was stabbed more than 70 times before his body was hidden in a bedroom wardrobe. Anthony Locke, 35, pleaded not guilty to the murder. His brother, Bernard Locke, 41, had pleaded guilty to the same offence. The prosecution read statements from Locke made to Garda investigators, in which he described dragging the body from the kitchen to the wardrobe and claimed he had not personally stabbed Jackson. Locke also admitted to being present at the victim's flat on numerous occasions prior to the murder. The trial, presided over by Mr Justice Garrett Sheehan, is expected to last two weeks and is being heard before a jury of 12 members.
