Man who ran illegal steroid 'pharmacy' from his home is jailed, while wife avoids custody
Summary
Saulius Daunaravicius was jailed for two years after pleading guilty to keeping and supplying anabolic steroids without a prescription from his family home in Saggart, Co Dublin. The drugs, valued at an estimated €69,000, were found during a search conducted by HPRA officer Alan Smullen and Gardaí on 23 September 2022. The search uncovered 78,689 tablets and 5,961 vials, including 9,040 tablets and 61 vials in a package addressed to his wife, Kristina Daunaraviciene. Daunaravicius, who had no prior convictions, admitted responsibility and claimed the drugs were for his use and friends. Kristina, also guilty, received a two‑year suspended sentence after a judge noted her cooperation, lack of criminal record, and family responsibilities. The case highlighted the dangers of unregulated anabolic steroid distribution.
