Veteran gambling industry exec takes case against GBE Technologies

Summary

Lawyers for Conall McSorley, a 30-year veteran of the gambling industry, have threatened to withdraw from a case at the Workplace Relations Commission, claiming their client is being denied a fair hearing. Defence evidence was interrupted when McSorley's barrister objected to questions about management control over his work being put to a CEO, as these had not been raised in cross-examination. McSorley, who accuses GBE Technologies Unlimited of unfair dismissal, instructed his legal team not to return for further evidence, stating the firm should 'mend its hand'. A key issue is whether McSorley was an employee or a contractor.
