Jury set to resume deliberations in trial of man accused of murdering former rugby captain
Summary
The jury in the trial of 32‑year‑old Gary Walsh, charged with murdering former Dublin rugby club captain Cathal Sweeney, is set to resume deliberations tomorrow. Walsh, who lives at Ravensdale Park, Kimmage, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Sweeney, aged 62, who was killed at a house in Terenure on 8 February 2014. He had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court, but that plea was not accepted by the State. The jury began deliberating at 10.55 am, spent almost four hours, and will reconvene at 10 am tomorrow under Justice Patrick McCarthy.
