Summary

During a Special Criminal Court hearing in Dublin, a County Meath farmer, Brian Garvey, testified that Thomas "Slab" Murphy, aged 66, rented 246 acres from him for five or six years, paying cash and occasionally third‑party cheques from oil companies. Garvey said that from 1999 to 2002 Murphy paid 25,000 Irish pounds per year in cash, and that Murphy's nephew once gave him 5,000 euros for rent.
