Jury sworn-in for Valerie French Kilroy murder trial
Summary
A jury of seven women and five men has been sworn in at the Central Criminal Court for the trial of a man charged with the murder of his wife in County Mayo. James Kilroy, aged 49, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the charge of murdering Valerie French Kilroy at their home in Kilbree Lower, Westport, between 13 and 14 June 2019. Mr Kilroy, a park ranger, faces the single count of murder. Justice Caroline Biggs informed the jury that proceedings are expected to continue for approximately three weeks, with the trial commencing before Justice Paul McDermott at the Central Criminal Court.
