Convicted sex offender raped, abused and exploited child over 10-year period
Summary
In a Central Criminal Court hearing, Thomas Neville, 59, was found guilty of one count of rape, one count of child exploitation and 20 counts of sexual assault against a girl who was 14 at the time of the first offence. The offences occurred in Dublin between 2010 and 2020. Neville, who has 35 prior convictions, including 34 for traffic offences and one for sexual assault, denied the allegations. The court heard that Neville gave the victim cocaine and took cocaine in her presence, and that he performed a range of sexual acts including placing his finger in her anus, touching her breasts, humping her, blindfolding her, forcing her to guess a food item, and making her mouth contact his penis and tongue. The victim, who has struggled with mental health issues, gave a victim impact statement. The case was adjourned for finalisation on 23 October.
