'Look at what you made me do': 18 months for man (19) who repetedly attacked, falsely imprisoned and threatened to kill partner
Summary
A 19‑year‑old Dublin man, Cameron Curtis, was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment for a series of violent assaults on his 20‑year‑old partner, Alannah Corrigan. Curtis pleaded guilty to seven counts of assault causing harm, one count of false imprisonment and a further assault on 19 July 2022 while they were staying overnight at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire. He also admitted assaults on 12, 13, 14 and 16 August 2022 at Binary Hub, Bonham Street, Dublin 8. The court heard that Curtis repeatedly punched, kicked, slapped, dragged by the hair, spat in Corrigan's face, strangled her in a chokehold and threatened to kill her, including locking her in a bathroom and threatening to use scissors. He was sentenced to two years and six months, with 12 months suspended, and the sentence was back‑dated to 19 September 2022 to account for time already spent in custody.
