'Remorseless' husband who murdered wife with Samurai sword has sentence backdated
Summary
William Eagers, 63, has had his life sentence backdated by three years following an appeal at the Court of Appeal. Eagers pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife of 34 years, Jean Eagers, in their home in Clonsilla, north Dublin, on June 21, 2020. This adjustment means Eagers will be eligible for parole consideration at age 75, rather than 78. The appeal was successful, resulting in the effective custody period being extended to include the three years he spent in detention prior to sentencing.
