Man who defiled girl (14) after plying her with alcohol is jailed for 6 years
Summary
A 41‑year‑old Dublin man was jailed for six years after pleading guilty to three counts of defiling a 14‑year‑old girl between September and October 2016. The girl, who had been friends with the man's teenage nephews and was once a girlfriend of one of them, was given alcohol and offered cocaine by the defendant. On the first occasion he met her in a park, gave her alcohol, attempted to kiss her, then forced her into the bushes, pulled down her clothes and had sex with her. Two further incidents occurred at an apartment building where he engaged in sexual activity and sent pornographic material. The girl's mother noticed a message from an older man and the girl confided in a guidance counsellor. The girl had ADHD, depression, self‑harm and hospital treatment at the time of the offences.
