Painter says he was injured on set of Disney's 'Disenchanted' before being moved and sacked

Summary

A scenery painter, David Brady, claims he was injured on the set of Disney's 'Disenchanted' and that his former employer, Metropolitan Films International Ltd, transferred him to another production to avoid liability before sacking him. Brady says he worked only an hour for Moonhaven S1 Productions DAC before being dismissed on 23 August 2021, after a knee injury on the 'Disenchanted' set. He alleges the construction manager moved him to the prop department, then sent him off the site without explanation. Brady also contends he was offered a resignation text in September 2021, which he denied, and that he never verbally agreed to resign. The Irish Film Workers' Association accuses IBEC of "chicanery" and claims breaches of employment rights, including unpaid wages and holiday entitlements. The case is being heard by the Workplace Relations Commission, with a decision expected in the autumn.
