Sean Beumer, 19, pleaded guilty in Dublin Circuit Court to assault causing harm after a vicious, unprovoked attack on Mark Kelly, a father of two, at Grace Park Heights, Drumcondra on 15 March. The assault, witnessed by Kelly's wife and family, began when Beumer confronted Kelly outside his home while Kelly was watching a rugby match. Beumer punched Kelly, breaking his lower lip and repeatedly striking him to the head and body, causing Kelly to fall and suffer injuries. Kelly's wife was thrown to the ground and suffered back pain. Judge Martin Nolan, noting Beumer's remorse and cooperation, imposed a two‑year suspended sentence, ordered one year of Probation and Welfare Service supervision, and declined a custodial term. A co‑accused, Peter O'Reilly, was previously ordered to pay €5,000 to the victim and his wife.
