Anglo trial hears that computer login should not have been used outside IT department

Summary

During a trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, it was heard that the computer login "mc9" used to alter bank accounts linked to former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Sean FitzPatrick was intended solely for use by the bank's IT department. Former IT head Michael Campbell testified that the login was employed in November 1999 to change the address on John Peter O'Toole's account, and that no non‑IT staff should have accessed it. He also stated that the login should not have been used for address changes. The trial also covered the alleged deletion or omission of accounts connected to FitzPatrick from Anglo's Core Banking System between 2003 and 2004. Accused Aoife Maguire, Tiarnan O'Mahoney and Bernard Daly, aged 62, 56 and 67 respectively, pleaded not guilty to seven counts. The case remains before Judge Patrick McCartan and a jury of twelve.
