Summary

In August 2021, 17‑year‑old Sean Squires stabbed a young man in the cheek and leg after the victim tried to intervene in an argument between Squires and his girlfriend on a Dublin bus. The incident began when the victim and his girlfriend noticed Squires and his girlfriend arguing; the girlfriend became emotional and threatened the victim's girlfriend, who slapped her. The victim and his girlfriend left the bus and called the police. Squires followed them, produced a knife and stabbed the victim. He was arrested shortly thereafter while attempting to board another bus. Squires, now 19, pleaded guilty to assault causing harm and producing a knife. He has no prior convictions.
