Summary
During a trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, three former Anglo Irish Bank officials—Bernard Daly, Tiarnan O'Mahoney, and Aoife Maguire—were accused of temporarily repaying loans to former chairman Sean FitzPatrick to make the bank's year‑end accounts appear healthier. Evidence showed that in September 1998 an IR£196,000 loan from the Sean FitzPatrick/Crohan O'Shea Trust was moved into an internal Anglo staff‑loan account called SRLADV, and similar amounts were later returned to the original accounts on 6 October. The same pattern was alleged to have occurred in September 1999 and 2000. The defendants denied deleting references to accounts linked to FitzPatrick's brother‑in‑law, John Peter O'Toole, from the bank's Core Banking System and from a list of non‑resident accounts over €100,000 in 1995. The case remains before Judge Patrick McCartan and a jury of twelve. Aoife Maguire pleaded not guilty.
