The ex‑girlfriend had asked the Gardaí to withdraw the charges. Kinahan, with no prior convictions, apologized, citing drunkenness and anger. Judge Dermot Dempsey fined him €200, noting the conviction could affect his travel rights and offering a charitable donation alternative, which Kinahan declined.
