Care Assistant convicted of sexually assaulting patient at Dublin hospital
Summary
Folajimmy Awode, 31, was convicted of sexually assaulting a female patient while working as a care assistant at the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin. The victim, who cannot be identified, reported that she was awakened by a rubbing sensation on her breast and saw Awode lifting his hand from her body. Awode denied the allegation, claiming he had gone to the patient's bedroom to check on her because someone was coughing. Catherine McKeown, the nursing charge, testified that Awode denied the accusation when she informed him. The jury reached a majority verdict after four and a half hours of deliberation.
