Eight children 'have to live without daddy' court hears, as 'coldblooded' murderers' are jailed for life
Summary
In a Special Criminal Court hearing, the family of Barry Wolverson, a 40‑year‑old businessman who was shot at Madigan's Yard in Swords on 17 January 2020, presented a victim impact statement. Wolverson, who had a partner expecting a child and five children, died on 21 February 2021 after 13 months in a coma. His sister, Lindsay Wolverson, said the family would grieve forever and that the children now have to live without a father. The court heard that Robert Redmond (34) and Bernard Fogarty (34) were found guilty of the murder, possession of a lethal firearm and ammunition, and assault causing harm to Gerard Wildman. Both were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder, 12 years for the gun offences, and five years for the assault, all running concurrently. The judge noted no mitigating circumstances and that the evidence, including forensic gun‑shot residue on Redmond's jacket, proved their guilt.
