Summary
James Byrne, 34, of Crumlin, pleaded guilty to four burglaries committed while on bail for other offences. Between 3 and 13 October 2014 he broke into Drimnagh Castle Primary School, St Agnes Church, Assumption Church in Walkinstown, and St Mark's Junior School in Tallaght. He also pleaded guilty to criminal damage at St Mark's. In St Agnes he entered after asking to see a priest, was told to wait, then fled; a witness heard coins rattling in his jacket and he later claimed to have taken €56. At Assumption he was seen by an 80‑year‑old man counting coins, who tried to stop him; Byrne locked the door and escaped with an estimated €200‑€300. At St Mark's he caused €3,500 of damage to doors and windows but claimed he took nothing, borrowing €10 from his ex‑wife.
