Valerie French Kilroy murder trial postponed
Summary
A man accused of murdering his wife at their Westport home in June 2019 will stand trial in March 2023 instead of December this year. James Kilroy, aged 48, of Kilbree Lower, Westport, Co Mayo, faces a charge in connection with the death of Valerie French Kilroy, aged 41, a mother of three. The trial was originally scheduled to begin on 12 December at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin and was expected to last three to four days. At a hearing before Mr Justice Paul McDermott today, the trial date was postponed to 6 March 2023. The defence indicated the proceedings would now require two to three weeks.
