Clamper threatened with knife, had van rammed
Summary
Stephen McMullen, aged 25, was one of three men who attacked a car clamper in Werburgh Street car park, Dublin, on 21 February 2019. The men approached the clamper, threatened him with a knife, threw chips at him and then drove their van at him, forcing him to jump a fence to avoid being run over. McMullen pleaded guilty to one count of coercion, a charge covering the threats and intimidation that prevented the clamper from clamping cars. He was sentenced to one year in prison, with the final 18 months suspended on conditions.
