Street dealer 'distributor' is jailed

Summary

Alex Campbell, 29, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after pleading guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possessing drugs for sale or supply at his former residence in Custom House Square, Dublin 1, on 14 May 2021. Gardaí discovered €835 in his hand and €150 in his pocket when they stopped him in a taxi after observing a suspected drug transaction. A paper bag he handed over contained 263 g of cannabis worth €5,274, and a small bag of 8.6 g worth €172 was found on him at Pearse Street Garda Station. Subsequent searches of his apartment revealed four bags of cannabis valued at €65,442, a bag worth €6,500, €7,055 in cash, weighing scales and bagging equipment. Campbell admitted he was holding the drugs to clear a debt.
