Jury continue deliberations in Urantsetseg Tserendorj murder trial
Summary
The jury in the murder trial of the teenager who stabbed Mongolian national Urantsetseg Tserendorj will continue deliberations for a fourth day. The panel now has 11 jurors after one was excused for medical reasons. Mr Justice Tony Hunt considered postponing the case to allow a 12‑person jury but the excused juror declined to return the next day. He told the jury that a guilty verdict should be returned if they were satisfied the prosecution proved the accused intended to kill or cause serious injury, or if the act was likely to result in death or serious injury. Ms Tserendorj, 49, was stabbed in the neck on 20 January 2021 after the accused attempted to rob her. The accused, a minor, pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter, to producing a knife and to attempting robbery.
